Levi’s Stadium DAS Substantially Complete, Ready for Testing and Optimization
Santa Clara, CA — The Distributed Antenna System (DAS) that will support the communications load from the new Levi’s 49ers Stadium has hit the critical “substantially complete” point, according to DAS Group Professionals (DGP).
All equipment and infrastructure is in place and the system is undergoing rigorous testing, which will be followed by an optimization phase scheduled to culminate at the end of the month. All public safety entities, ATT and Verizon are up and running, says Needham Windham, DGP’s Project Executive. Sprint and T-Mobile have also signed agreements to use the DAS, and will be online shortly.
The first event at the new stadium is scheduled for early August and will mark the system’s first “fully loaded” event. “There should be no surprises at that point,” says Windham. “But that event will allow us to use live system data to optimize the system even more.”
By the time the first pre-season 49ers game against the Denver Broncos on August 17 takes place, the system will be user-tested and load-ready – a significant hurdle for the all-new, tech-intensive venue.
“We’re not surprised to be standing here, with a complete build finished on time and on budget,” says DGP President Steve Dutto. “But it’s satisfying nonetheless. Besides delivering on our promise to our client, we have an internal challenge to complete every project on time and on budget and this job keeps us at 100%.”
Windham will be at the S.E.A.T. conference this coming week and is available to discuss the project in more detail. Reach him at the JMA booth or email him at NeedhamWindham@dasgroupprofessionals.com.
